We’re looking at another cold start to the day, as temperatures this morning are starting out in the upper teens and low 20s. Feel-like temperatures outside are much colder again, starting out in the single digits / teens. Winds gusts will pick back up again today, coming out of the west at up to 35/40 mph.
Winter Weather Alerts are still up until tomorrow morning. Accumulating and blowing snow will be falling tonight. Where a squall line sets up, snow could fall at heavy rates of 1-2″ per hour, reducing visibility and making travel tricky.
The lake effect snow that’s been pounding Central New York since Monday evening shows no signs of letting up until early Wednesday morning. Intense lake effect snow bands could bring 6 to 12 inches of additional snow through tonight, adding to the nearly 2 feet already reported in some hard-hit spots, according to the National Weather Service.
Northern Erie County and southern Erie County are under lake-effect snow warnings through New Year's Day at 7 p.m.
