In the early 2000s, a small team within Ford's Powertrain Development and Advanced Engines departments had an idea: We need to develop a V10 engine to put in the upcoming Ford GT, in order to properly compete with the Viper and Corvette. They took it upon themselves to work off the books developing a franken-engine to prove to Ford's upper management that this was a logical next step in the American sports car game. When they were done, the engine was forced up the no
